Cookware Illustrations – Steamer Trading Cookshop
The Brief
Steamer Trading was a well-known retail chain specialising in premium cookware, bakeware and kitchen accessories. In 2014, the company commissioned us to create a cohesive set of illustrated assets that could be applied consistently across their retail environment and marketing channels.
The brief requested a flexible suite of cookware illustrations—high-quality graphic artwork that could be adapted for store signage, point-of-sale displays, branded wall graphics, vehicle livery and the company website. The aim was to strengthen the brand identity, elevate the in-store experience and provide a distinctive visual language that complemented their product range.
Cookware Illustrations – The Project Outcome
We developed a collection of hand-painted illustrations inspired by vintage French cookery book artwork, reinterpreted with a modern, screen-printed aesthetic suitable for contemporary retail branding. The colour palette was chosen to harmonise with the Farrow & Ball interiors used throughout Steamer Trading’s shops, ensuring that the artwork felt integrated with the wider brand environment.
These bespoke illustration assets were reproduced at a range of scales for use across the estate. Prints of the cookware artwork were installed in several flagship stores across the South East, including Brighton, Guildford and Bluewater. For the Bluewater location, we also created a standout A–Z of Cookware wall display—an engaging piece of retail wall art designed to both decorate the space and guide customers through the breadth of the product offering.
