Packaging Design & Branding
Brighton-based art materials manufacturer Seawhite of Brighton commissioned us to design the packaging and branding for their new range of Gallery Frames.
Because the brief required a practical solution for a retail environment, the primary branded element we created is a removable paper insert. This sits at the front of the frame, acting not only as the main point-of-sale visual, but also as a protective layer for the product.
The Graphic Concept
Our design response features a bold, colourful graphic inspired by the paper cutouts of Henri Matisse. Specifically, we created a collage of coloured shapes representing frames in perspective. This distinct geometry contrasts with the black background and the natural wood of the product, thereby ensuring the frames stand out on retail shelves and in art shops.
Client’s Response
‘Seawhite competes against the biggest companies in the graphic arts industry and we feel that we have been fortunate to have found a designer who manages to hit the target so effectively. We find Toop Studio easy, pleasant and economical to deal with and the results have helped strengthen our brand.’
