About Toop Studio

I’m Shadric Toop, a Brighton-based designer and illustrator. I founded Toop Studio in 2000 to bring together two things I’m passionate about: concept-driven graphic design and hand-crafted illustration. In essence, I work as a hybrid between artist and designer, creating work that is visually engaging and carefully considered.

Over the past two and a half decades, I’ve had the privilege of working with clients in the arts, education, publishing, retail and business sectors, helping bring ideas to life through branding, illustration, packaging, wall art and video.

My Approach

I believe the best results come from crossing disciplines. Every project starts with understanding a client’s brand, values and objectives. I aim to produce work that combines meaning, function, beauty and value. I’m passionate about my craft and strive to exceed client expectations on every project.

Concept-driven Graphic Design

I take a practical, function-led view when clarity and purpose are key, particularly in branding and packaging. I focus on distilling messages to their essence, creating designs that communicate effectively while still drawing on a considered visual style.

Hand-crafted Illustration

I work across collage, drawing, painting, printmaking and digital media, blending traditional and contemporary techniques. This allows me to create illustrations that feel tactile and personal while supporting the concept and purpose of each project. Education and Wall Art

I’ve developed strong links with schools and colleges across the UK, creating rebrands and large-scale wall graphics that transform learning environments. This has become a specialism, combining storytelling, illustration and design in ways that engage students and staff.

Collaborators

I adapt my team to the needs of each project, drawing on a trusted network of photographers, videographers, animators, web designers and technical specialists. This flexibility ensures the right expertise is applied without compromising the creative vision.
