Varndean School Posters – Home–School Partnership

Varndean school posters for home–school partnership were designed by Toop Studio to support clearer communication between school and families. The illustrated school posters help communicate expectations, values, and shared approaches within meeting spaces where clarity and structure matter.

The work extends an existing illustration system developed for Varndean School. That system included a student journey wall graphic based on connected islands and a butterfly-led visual identity for school values. Both projects used hand-drawn ink illustration combined with structured typography and collage-like forms. This poster series develops that language into a focused set of communication tools.

Each school poster design uses a single idea supported by a clear visual analogy. This keeps the messages direct and easy to discuss in meetings. In addition, repetition of trees, bridges, and butterflies builds a consistent visual system across the set.

Shared Expectations

This illustrated poster focuses on shared expectations between home and school. Two trees represent each environment. A standards line runs across both, creating alignment. Butterflies above the line suggest students responding to consistent expectations across both settings.

This poster explores open communication in the home–school relationship. A bridge connects home and school across a valley. A two-way arrow reinforces dialogue in both directions. As a result, the illustration communicates exchange rather than instruction.

This school poster design presents a diverse community around a central school tree. Each surrounding tree differs in form and origin. Therefore, the composition reflects inclusion, individuality, and shared responsibility within the school community.

This illustrated poster shows collaboration between home and school. Branches extend and overlap to form a shared canopy. A butterfly rests above this structure, suggesting that student support is strongest when both sides contribute together.

This poster brings focus to outcomes. A butterfly sits above a community of trees carrying aspirational qualities across its wings. Meanwhile, the landscape below grounds the composition in the Varndean community. Overall, it connects partnership to student wellbeing and development.

Across the series, Toop Studio uses illustrated poster design to simplify complex relationships. The visual system relies on clear metaphors, restrained typography, and consistent structure. In addition, repetition of motifs ensures cohesion without repetition of text.

Together, these Varndean school posters form a practical communication framework. They support staff and families in maintaining shared expectations, open communication, and collaborative support around students.
