Georganics Packaging Design – Zero Waste Packaging
Background
Georganics manufactures natural and zero-waste oral care products. It started in South London in 2014, moving to the West Sussex countryside in 2016. Some of their core products include organic toothpaste, mouthwash, toothbrushes and dental floss. All of their products are packaged in biodegradable and compostable cardboard boxes.
Their core values can be summarised in 3 words: Natural, Sustainable and Conscientious.
The Brief
The company contacted us initially in 2018 with a brief to update all their product labels and design new kraft card inners and outers for their entire range. They eventually expanded the brief to include the design of all their communications and marketing materials.
Georganics Packaging Design – Project Outcome
To begin with, we improved the brand hierarchy on their product labels. Our goal was to allow more prominence to the Georganics wordmark across the range.
Next, we created a set of hand-drawn assets to be used on packaging and across the business. These include:
- an illustration of each product
- a graphic pattern for each product flavour
- visual product usage directions for each product type
- a set of descriptive value-based icons to communicate ‘zero waste’, ‘plastic-free’, ‘cruelty-free’ etc.
With this new visual language in place, we then designed a new set of cartons for every product.
Marketing Materials
We also designed a ‘hero’ illustration taking inspiration from a growing plant that incorporates all their key product types. We used this illustration in various packaging and marketing situations such as the inside of their mailing boxes, product catalogue cover, exhibition stand and a vehicle wrap.
Alongside our Georganics packaging designs and marketing material, we also consulted on various three-dimensional product design issues. For instance, we helped design the shape of their new beech toothbrushes and cardboard furniture for a trade show stand.
Later, we consulted on a new set of brand guidelines for the company with particular emphasis on web and social media.
